03 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam, Budgam : Police | KNO

Srinagar, December 08 (KNO) : Continuing its drive against drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and Budgam districts and recovered 16 kilograms of poppy straw and charas like substance from their possession. Acting on a specific information, a police party of Police Post Jawahar Tunnel on the directions of SP Kulgam Shridhar Patil laid a naka near Jawahar Tunnel. During naka checking a vehicle bearing registration number JK01S- 0162 was intercepted. During checking 16 Kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle. Two persons identified as Gyan Chand son of Mohinder Chand resident of Ningal Jhalandhar and Akash Deep son of Prem Singh resident of Joudhy Ludhyana who were boarding the vehicle were arrested on the spot. A case was registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation was taken up. Meanwhile, Budgam police arrested a drug peddler during naka checking at Kokernagi crossing in the jurisdiction of Police Station Khag. 400 grams of charas like substance was recovered from his possession. The drug peddler was identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Ahad Bhat resident of Kokerbagh Khag. A case was registered in Police Station Khag and investigation was taken up. Jammu and Kashmir Police once again thanks people for their support in War Against Drugs and hopes that they will continue their support in future also in its endeavour to eradicate the menace from the society which can only be possible with the help of civil society (KNO)
